Transmission
This upgraded transmission is built for improved durability, consistent shifting, and dependable performance in street and towing applications. It features an upgraded valve body, upgraded governor solenoid, and upgraded governor pressure transducer (47RE/48RE), delivering twice the burst pressure of stock and increasing line pressure to 190–200 PSI. Shuttle shifting issues are eliminated, and a modified manual valve ensures proper lubrication in all gear positions.
Stock thrust bushings are replaced with roller-style Torrington bearings to reduce friction and extend service life. Clutch capacity is significantly increased with 6 direct clutches, 5 forward clutches, 6 overdrive clutches, and 10 overdrive direct clutches. A high-temperature, high-energy Raybestos band, combined with a billet band lever and billet band strut, provides superior holding power under load.
Strength is further enhanced with a billet “Big” fine-spline input shaft, designed to absorb shock from rapid throttle inputs and high-horsepower applications. A drilled intermediate shaft improves lubrication and reliability.
Cooling and fluid capacity are improved with a BD rigid aluminum heavy-duty transmission pan, which adds 2 quarts of additional fluid capacity. Integrated heat-dissipating fins help control operating temperatures, while a magnetic drain plug captures metallic debris. Additional protection is provided by a BD auxiliary full-flow filter kit, and a cooler line case saver is installed in every transmission. Each unit is dyno tested to ensure proper operation and performance.
Torque Converter
The torque converter features an enhanced stall speed optimized for street and towing applications. Torque-multiplying cast aluminum stators deliver improved low-RPM response compared to the stock converter, resulting in more efficient operation, reduced heat, and improved fuel economy.
A stamp-forged steel front cover increases strength and durability, while furnace-brazed fins reduce internal leakage for improved fluid coupling efficiency. The converter includes up to three times the lock-up clutch material of a factory unit, providing increased holding power and long-term reliability.
Warranty
This transmission and torque converter package is backed by a 36-month or 150,000-mile parts warranty, with 12 months or 24,000 miles of labor coverage.
