BD Diesel
This performance-built transmission is engineered to handle up to 300% more power and torque than stock while dramatically increasing drivetrain durability. It features all-new bushings, a redesigned valve body, revised oil circuits, and fully rollerized internals to reduce friction and improve reliability.
Stock thrust washers are replaced with roller Torrington bearings, protecting governor solenoids and improving lubrication, while a drilled intermediate shaft and modified manual valve ensure proper lube in all gear positions. 47RE units are upgraded with stronger 48RE components, including new input shafts, hub assemblies, and a billet input shaft to absorb shock from rapid throttle and high-horsepower applications.
Clutch capacity is increased with heavy-duty clutches featuring up to 25% more friction material, machined pressure plates and pistons, and a high-temperature Raybestos band with billet band hardware. Up to 80% higher clutch apply pressure delivers firm, consistent shifts at lower RPM and lighter throttle input, eliminating shuttle shifting.
Cooling and durability are enhanced with a BD rigid aluminum heavy-duty transmission pan, adding 1 quart of fluid capacity, reducing case flex and internal leakage, and featuring cooling fins and a magnetic drain plug. Additional protection includes an upgraded governor pressure transducer and solenoid, a cooler line case saver, and a BD auxiliary full-flow filter kit.
Clutch counts include Forward (5), Direct (6), Overdrive (6), and Overdrive Direct (10), making this transmission a proven solution for high-power diesel applications.
