BD Diesel
This upgraded transmission is engineered to significantly increase drivetrain durability and handle up to 300% more power and torque than a stock transmission. Revised oil circuits, stronger internal components, and improved lubrication deliver reliable performance under demanding conditions.
All new bushings are installed, and a newly designed valve body improves hydraulic control. Factory thrust washers are replaced with roller Torrington bearings, reducing friction and helping protect governor solenoids. A drilled intermediate shaft increases lubrication, while a modified manual valve ensures proper lube flow in all gear positions.
For added strength, 47RE transmissions are upgraded with more rugged 48RE components, including new input shafts and hub assemblies. Line pressure increases begin at lower engine RPM and lighter throttle input, maintaining firm, consistent shifts without harshness. These updates eliminate shuttle shifting issues and improve overall drivability. An upgraded governor pressure transducer (47RE/48RE) and a cooler line case saver are included in every transmission.
Clutch capacity is increased with heavy-duty clutches featuring up to 25% more friction material than stock, along with a machined forward (rear) beveled pressure plate, machined overdrive brake pressure plates (front and rear), and a machined direct clutch (front) piston. A high-temperature, high-energy Raybestos band, paired with a billet band strut and anchor, improves holding power and durability. A billet dual-ring accumulator piston further enhances hydraulic control, and a fully rollerized geartrain reduces friction and wear.
Additional protection is provided by a BD auxiliary full-flow filter kit to improve filtration and component life.
